Once upon a Time in the West ...

The West Coast Territory is the most dynamic and tourist area of the island. Le Guillaume, a charming little Creole village in the commune of Saint-Paul, is located on the Piton Maïdo road (a must-see site on Reunion Island from where you can enjoy a striking panoramic view of the Mafate cirque and its numerous hiking departures). Nestled at an altitude of some 600 meters, Le Guillaume benefits from a much less dry climate than on the coast. Food crops are part of the resources of the locality which can be found on the famous market by the sea. Livestock, perfume plants and fruits are added to the resources of Guillaume which characterizes the charm and art of the "good life" of the heights of the island.

Our furnished tourist accommodation is located in the heart of the village and less than 2 minutes walk from all amenities (doctor's office, pharmacy, post office, supermarket, service station, bakery, greengrocer, and other local shops).A bus stop is 100 m away with the line which serves, in less than 30 minutes, the Piton Maïdo in one direction, and the St Paul bus station in the other direction and from where you can reach the large cities by the coast).

Located on the Maïdo forest road, about 20 minutes from the trailheads of the most beautiful hikes on the island, you will arrive at Piton Maïdo, an unmissable place from where you will have the freedom to contemplate a magnificent breathtaking panorama of the Circus of Mafate. Along the way, you will have taken care to stop at the Maison du Géranium, to enjoy the benefits of its essential oil, produced locally, and of course, a stop at Doudou is essential to eat and delight your taste buds with the specialties of the corner and its legendary curry in a very friendly atmosphere...

The descent on foot into the Circus begins here, armed with their backpack and their best shoes, nature lovers will be delighted to explore the countless trails to discover this exceptional site, following in the footsteps of the ""brown"" slaves. . An exceptional endemic fauna and flora will amaze you with every stride, the peaks, cirques and ramparts listed as World Heritage by UNESCO forming truly exceptional landscapes...

Of course, you cannot stay in the West without indulging in the pleasures of the island's most beautiful beaches, located less than 20 minutes by car. These stretches of fine sand and turquoise blue water will no longer just be a postcard image. The lagoon will reveal its treasures to you, dazzled by corals and magnificent tropical fish in a thousand and one colors, you will sip your favorite cocktail in a heavenly setting while admiring splendid sunsets.

CRADLE OF A CULTURE

It was in the west that it all began and there are many places of memory there! The first settlers landed in Saint-Paul as evidenced by the Cave of the First French located on the Bay.Opposite, the magnificent marine cemetery, where the very illustrious poet Leconte de Lisle and the no less famous pirate Olivier Levasseur, known as "La Buse" coexist, whose treasure we are still looking for, buried somewhere on the island according to the legend ! Our furnished apartment is located 15 minutes from the city center of Saint-Paul and 20 minutes from the seaside resort of Saint-Gilles-les-Bains, as well as halfway (around 30 minutes) between Saint-Pierre (capital of the south). ) and Saint-Denis (the capital).

You will be able to do your shopping as you wish and also take advantage of the renowned Saint-Paul fairground market, one of the largest on the island.Located on the seafront of Saint-Paul every Friday as well as Saturday mornings, you won't be able to help but stroll through its alleys with a thousand colors and flavors, discovering a good number of gourmet specialties and other local curiosities, all in a very friendly atmosphere in contact with welcoming Reunion Islanders! His little brother is in Saint-Pierre on Saturday mornings.

Many local specialties but also a predominant Malagasy craft (because it is neighboring) will of course give you the opportunity to find all your souvenirs to bring back to your loved ones!
